Þetta hótel er umkringt fjallalandslagi og er aðeins 1 km frá innganginum að Rondane-þjóðgarðinum. The view is great. Good to walk around. We got there in the sunset time, it was stunning. The decoration of the hotel has historical pictures and furniture, very stylish. Dinner and breakfast are good. It's a little bit of drive from the main road. If you have a car, no problem.

We actually did not stay in this place as we were moved to another in the same chain (low season and they close some facilities), but I believe they are all similar. really nice staff did a custom dinner just for us (specially for us bought fish), very cozy hall to sit in with fireplace and AMAZING hiking around. also they have a dog living in which for us was a plus.

The location is roughly a 3hr ride from Oslo airport and a max. 20min car ride away to all kinds of skiing, cross country skiing and hiking opportunities, although a lot of activities can be found just around the property. We liked that it was located in the valley away from big tourist groups. The property itself is very cozy, warm and welcoming. The interior in the main hotel is a very charming mix between antique Norwegian and modern furniture with a main lobby with a fireplace that invites for coffee and tea and a restaurant area. The room we stayed in was one of the newly renovated ones, with a very comfortable double bed and a bathroom with rainforest shower. We were absolutely stunned by the quality of food we were served for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was included in our deal and was organised in a “tapas style” meaning that we could select in advance from a breakfast selection e.g. fresh buns, yoghurt with home made granola, breakfast waffles, porridge etc. Dinner is always a 3 course menu with well selected and local ingredients- we had the first moose stew of our life, which was fantastic! The best thing about Rondane River Lodge are definitely the hosts, you can really feel how much they enjoy hosting people- we had many nice conversations with Benjamin and received useful tips. For us it was the perfect stay, and we’re happily recommending this hotel and will very likely come back!
