- Stonetown buildings are a vintage but lacks maintenance, it makes the area look a bit untidy. Also the rusted roofing or corrugated sheets makes the aaerial view not beautiful. Painting them and the buildings will bring an added beauty to the image of stonetown.

Friendly people with a lot of places to visit.
However there is a lack of food prices diversity. Most good food is somehow expensive and the cheapest food was bad.
However my favourite place to eat during evening was at the small restaurant near the Mkunazini Anglican Cathedral where delicious rice dishes are served.
Couples can enjoy the tours to Prison Island and around Stone town

I sailed as a sea captain all around the island, including Pemba island. I spent here almost 2 months altogether. From tourist places, I liked Nungwi beaches. You have to know, most of tourist resorts are situated outside of local civilization. If you want to go shopping or to the local restaurant, you need to order a taxi everytime and the prices are high. The food and alcohol is quite expensive even for europeans. The locals are kind, although sometimes annoying if they are selling something. I felt absolutely safe, more than in EU. Traffic in the inlands is terrible, try to avoid travelling on these roads. Negotiate the price (taxi etc) before drive. They are able to ask 50 USD for 3 kilometres of ride after. If I could decide, I would try another exotic islands. Zanzibar needs 5-10 years to improve the services for tourist, infrastructure etc.

Navigating Zanzibar City was surprisingly easy, with an array of transportation options available. The compact size of the city made it convenient to explore on foot, with many attractions within walking distance of each other. I would definitely suggest trying the local Swahili food for fresh fish and seafood.
For a visitor from South Africa, I found the price of food and drinks at restaurants relatively expensive.
I have booked this place only to have a chance to sleep for 5-6 hours. I came to Zanzibar at night around 4am so until I could go and check in to other hotel near the beach I decided to find something cheap and close to airport to get some sleep so I only stayed at this hotel for 5 hours so I cant say much. But the receptionist were nice and room is ok. If its just for 1 night to stay near airport because you need its fine, otherwise for longer stay in too far from city center and there is nothing around that much near hotel.
I spent a night at Shaba Boutique Hotel before flying out of Zanzibar and it was perfect. I was able to check in a bit earlier and the room was stunning, the bed and all the decor felt true to Stone Town and the staff were so friendly and helpful in arranging transport to the airport as well. The breakfast was excellent in the morning. Location was great, during the night it can be intimidating walking the streets but it really isn't too far from the typical tourist spots. I would stay again in a heartbeat! Highly recommend.
Couldn’t fault the hotel, it was beautiful and a great stay, would definitely recommend and we would definitely stay here again.
Location is perfect, right on the beach and a short walk into the main centre.
Two separate pools and beds, also beds on a private section on beach.
Great selection and choice of food at breakfast, the restaurant also has a good menu for lunch or light snacks.
Mohamed, the hotel manager, was incredible, extremely friendly and helpful and helped book our day trips at a reasonable price.
We absolutely loved our stay at Emerson on Hurumzi. All the staff are so professional and genuinely friendly, the hotel and the rooms are beautifully designed, and the location is great, right in the middle of the city.
We experienced the rooftop dinner on our first night and it was one of the highlights of our holiday. The food was excellent and the atmosphere among the guests, staff, and entertainers was unforgettable.
If you're planning to stay in Stone Town, then Emerson on Hurumzi is your only option!
The location and the team were outstanding.
The owner Sadaat was extremely helpful organizing trips and gave us a lot of insides about stone town.
The rooms were lovely and spacious with sea view exactly as advertised. Food was also delicious. We specifically choose smaller hotels during our holidays as we don’t like the big chains where you are just a number. Sadaat and his team really gave our time there a personal touch. We had a fantastic time at Archipelago Stonetown.
Nice hotel right on the beach and next to the port.
Great location with everything in easy walking distance from the hotel.
Our room was spacious and clean with a huge ornate bathroom.
Beds were big and comfortable. TV, Fridge and a Kettle in the room with some tea and coffee provided.
Breakfast was ok.
The pool was nice with plenty of shaded areas and a great way to cool off after walking around the back streets of Stone Town.
The Hotel is well located in the heart of Stone Town. Our room was nice and spacious, so was the bathroom. Everything clean. There is a nice little pool, perfect for a quick refresh after exploring the city. The roof terrace is very nice, food was really good, although we didn‘t have breakfast as our flight was too early in the morning. Staff was nice and friendly, can totally recomend this place for a stay in Stone town.
We were looking for a place in Stone Town fairly last-minute, and the Asmini Palace worked out perfectly. The hotel is very nice, and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast on the rooftop was quite enjoyable, with fresh fruit and good variety and portions. There are plenty of restaurants around, and finding good food outside the hotel was not too hard. This was a very good place for our first view of Stone Town.
Very nice and clean room, great breakfast, very friendly staff. The hotel is close to the main spots of Stone Town and the main building is right on the beach. After check out they stored our baggages in a room and we could use the pool and everything in the hotel. Before our flight we could have shower and change in a nice separate changing room.
Wonderful historic house directly in stone town. The employees have been kind and caring. The room (Suite) was spacious and is decorated with historical Charme. The food and drinks are good and at a decent price. We also did the city tour, the spice farm tour as well as some transfers from the hotel. Good service abs customer orientation.
Rooftop terrace for breakfast is nice and refreshing, while the breakfast is average. I could store my suitcase for almost 2 weeks before I actually got to the hotel for free, which was very convenient for me. Small cozy room with a nice bathroom. Free wifi. AC is very useful specifically in Stone Town.
Very nice hotel in stone Town. Nice location at the end of the beach. Very nice room and super comfortable bed.
When we arrived at the hotel we asked them to make a dinner reservation for us at a restaurant outside, which they organised.
The breakfast was very nice with lots of options.
Hotel is fantastic and a real gem. Perfect location on the beach and right in the heart of stone town - next to the night markets for cheap street food. Staff were great, especially Ali. 3 different pools to choose from and breakfast selection was incredible.
Antonio Beach Hotel & Spa has lovely rooms on the beach. Our room was large, clean, had working AC (although not very powerful), great WiFi, and had hot water. The hotel grounds are very nice, spacious, natural. The pool was wonderful.
Great location. It is a beautiful historic building. The balconies are stunning to sit on. I stayed at two hotels during my stay in Stone Town and would recommend the Dhow Palace.
Location is great, just right at the Stone Town city centre. They have a nice swimming pool with a bar. Food is really nice and a tours provided are great.
Really nice hotel.
Great location for exploring Stone Town or watching the sunset on the beach. balcony or pool, interesting architecture and furnishings, attentive staff.
