Our sea view room lived up to its label: the views over the town and coast were stunning. The hotel is old and characterful with wonky floors, beams and low ceilings: we like that. Short walk downhill to the harbour and free car parking. Good value for the price.
In the center of Lyme Regis, just 492 feet from the beach, the Royal Lion Hotel has a pool, sauna and games room. Some rooms have sea views and balconies.

You can tell that the property has been newly renovated as it was in pristine condition! The location is excellent, approx. 10 minute walk to the beach with loads of pubs/shops on the way.
The apartment itself has a very comfy bed, all your amenities if you want to cook and is dog friendly (hence why we booked!). There is also a designated car space which is fab.
LOVED that there was milk in the fridge, as a cuppa after the long drive was needed.
The host was great to communicate with, clear instructions on how to pick up the keys and also directions arriving (which were greatly appreciated). It was a fabulous stay in Spring, so can imagine it's even better in Summer!

Lyme Regis is a lovely town on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
Lyme Regis is a lovely town on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. The scenery is wonderful, as are the beaches. The area is famous for its fossils, and ammonites can be found while walking on the rocky beaches by the cliffs. Lyme is also famous for being the town where paleontologist Mary Anning lived and worked. There are excellent pubs and restaurants.

We arrived in late afternoon on the eve of D-Day+80, and after half term was over, so it was pleasantly empty! We were working there on a video production so focussed in that, eating in an Indian restaurant in town that was superb and seeing the basic sights and waterfront after the majority of visitors had left, so, in our opinion we saw Lyme Regis at its best. If you like crowds - which we don’t - the weekends and summer holiday season will be just what you want. If you want peace and quiet the off season will be perfect for you.

I loved Lyme Regis.
Things to remember:
I loved Lyme Regis.
Things to remember:
•If you're renting a car, rent a small one.
•Don't bring large bills. Most businesses want card interactions or coins/small bills.
Great restaurants, nice shops, picturesque setting, dog loving community.
Go - be sure to not schedule every minute. Give yourself time to wander and enjoy the town!

A beautiful Dorset resort.
A beautiful Dorset resort. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Some lovely walks and great beaches.
I would recommend it to anyone.
Harbour inn for Sunday lunch, Millside restaurant for an evening meal. You need need to book in advance to prevent disappointment.
Plenty of Bars on the sea front, places to eat and drink and ice cream shops. Watch out for the always hungry seagulls.

Lyme Regis was a perfect base for exploring the Jurassic coast. The town is clean and well kept. There is a good selection of shops and a couple of small supermarkets but also independent bakers. The museum is worth a visit and the micro brewery. The staff in hotels, shops and restaurants are so friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do in and around the town which boasts an excellent beach and nice walks. It is easy to catch a bus east or west. Lyme Regis has a lovely atmosphere with families and dogs milling around happily. We were lucky to have good weather 9 days out of 10! All in all it exceeded our expectations!

People very friendly and helpful.
People very friendly and helpful. Car parking is not great and you can only stay for a max of 3 hrs, no return for 4hrs in ncp in the town. Park and ride was closed! Car parks further out if you don't mind a walk.
Found a great pub, The Ship Inn on our way from car park, had lunch and returned for dinner!
Clean and Tidy hotel, pleasant staff, Breakfast was excellent. My son and I had a swim in the pool which was a great addition. Mainly my son and I liked the staff.
We will stay again I’m sure as it’s well located half way between Lyme Regis and charmouth. Nice selection of teas and nice shortbread in room. Towels were really good quality too, and the bed was well made. Good priced accommodation.
Had a fantastic stay here. The apartment is large, clean and modern and is in a great location only a few minutes' walk away from the centre of Lyme Regis. The facilities provided were excellent and little touches such as the tea/coffee/coffee machine etc were really appreciated. The host contacted us beforehand to arrange check-in which all went smoothly. Would recommend.
Really fabulous central location and perfect for a couple of nights stay.
The rooms are about the same size as a hotel room, with similar facilities (fridge, kettle). Having the parking is great, as otherwise the main car parks in Lyme Regis are a walk up the hill. We stayed 2 nights - it was just what we wanted.
Beautiful little hotel, great location close to everything! Only a five minute walk to the Dinosaur Fossil museum, all of the lovely little shops and cafe's are on the street down the road and also right next to the beach!
Staff were super nice, breakfast was amazing :) would deffinately stay here again!
It was convenient for the town and beach, although anyone who has visited Lyme Regis knows it’s very hilly and it is quite a challenging walk back to the hotel for anyone with walking or mobility issues.
The car park for the hotel was fine.
The owner was helpful and the breakfast was really good.
The location is second to none and the views are amazing! The home was exceptionally comfortable and welcoming. We were met by Gail when we arrived, who was ever so gracious welcoming us to Lyme Regis and the home. We will absolutely stay here should we ever return to Lyme Regis!
Neil made sandwiches for my Mom and her friend because they were too tired to go out for dinner. The breakfast was delicious, and the hosts were friendly and accommodating. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and a short drive to the beach in Lyme Regis.
Lyme Regis is a lovely town on the Dorset coast. Our room had a large deck overlooking the cliffs and the sea. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Our room was above the pub, but not noisy at all. Location was great, a short walk into town.
Great small hotel - has its own car park which is a major plus in Lyme Regis. Bit of a steep walk up from town, but the views make up for it. spectacular views from both windows in our room. Coast and sea. Big gardenn with views too.
Homely, comfortable and well equipped apartment, a short walk from the centre of Lyme Regis. The hosts have thought of everything to make you feel at home, with flowers on the table and a welcome cream tea.
Perfectly located in the heart of Lyme Regis. Beautifully decorated throughout. Awesome shower and lovely and private accommodation. Easy to find and park and access was easy (key box).
The hotel is close to the beach and Lyme Regis centre, all within walking distance. Staf is friendly and helpfull and break-fast is good, although not very extensive.
