Overall the hotel was good. The room's decor was a bit dated.

I went to Ryde, partly because there's a bus direct from East Cowes and the ferry - I don't take the car - and partly to see more of it. I'm not a beach lover but Ryde beach is good for those that are, and in season there's the pleasure pool etc for kids at the east end of the town. Buses go regularly to Newport, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor and Bembridge, and the Island Line Railway also goes to Shanklin, And up and down the pier. There are the hovercraft to / from Southsea, the bus / tram museum and shops to potter in. Eating places - Castle Hotel is good - and wonderful ice cream

We were on the island to visit various places so the location did not really matter as we had the car, however having now travelled all around next time we would choose a location with more of a little town environment. There was very little in Ryde.

Ryde buildings and look is tired and needs some refreshing, the train service is, at best, erratic with many cancellations which is annoying if you need to get to Smallbrook Junction. They say you can use the train ticket for the bus but the bus does not go there! However the bus service is good and reliable. The Alamo steak house is very good, excellent steaks cooked as requested.

Great cafes and restaurants.
Great cafes and restaurants. I was really impressed by the homemade cakes on offer. It makes such a change from the massproduced rubbish.
Loved the walks potential. I really wished I had stayed longer.
This was a beautiful and well-decorated property. It's located in a quiet residential street but is just a few minutes walk away from shops, pubs, restaurants and beaches of the centre of Ryde. The photos on the website didn't really do it justice. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the kitchen well-equipped. There is a conservatory and a small garden with seating area, which was well-used during the fine weather during our stay. We had a lovely time and would be very happy to return.
You couldn't ask for a better hotel to stay at. Centrally located steps from the pier in Ryde, you can drop your bags off at your room and start exploring the city right away.
The listed building is gorgeous, and oozes charm and character. Staff are exceedingly friendly and helpful, willing to recommend places to see and where to eat. The breakfast in the morning was a great way to start the day, with many options to satisfy even a picky eater.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Ilse of wight. Excellent property and very convenient to
activities. The front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. The property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm.
Nice residential area a little away from the centre of town. As we had a vehicle it was not a problem with our being able to visit the entire island without difficulty. Fiona and her husband Neil were very helpful and approachable offering part of their garden for outdoor use. The flat was in excellent condition with all mod. cons. Would highly recommend.
Very beautiful apartment with all facilities. It is actually bigger than looks in the picture. Very good location, from the Ryde ferry it is 5 min walk and all the bus stations to go anywhere in the isle of Wight are within 10min walk.
There is Co-Op and Iceland shop within 5min walk so you can have all the stuff from there.
Breakfast was a superb bowl of fruit, extensive choice of cereal, fruit juice, tea/coffee and toast. No option of cooked breakfast - but I preferred what was offered.
I wanted somewhere that was not a hotel chain, and had character and a quiet garden and this was perfect.
Nice walk along quiet roads/cyclepath to Ryde
Central location in town; well served by buses and close to ferry terminal and rail station. A long established and old-style hotel that offers good food in bar or restaurant. The staff were particularly good natured, friendly and helpful which makes such a difference to staying guests
The property was very clean and furnished to a high standard, with everything we needed. The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable. There was a great welcome pack on arrival. Is a lovely garden and outdoor seating area. The host very kindly took us to the ferry on departure.
Staff so helpful, I arrived early and they were able to check me in. This hotel is a little oasis of calm - beautiful grounds and one of the best spas I have ever used in a hotel. The lavender sauna cannot be missed! I only stayed one night but it felt like a real break.
A lovely traditional hotel, lots of Victorian furniture to match the surroundings, beautifully appointed rooms and the pub grub was excellent - book a table as it is popular with locals in the evening.
Good breakfast and helpful friendly staff.
good value. met expectations for the price paid- half the price of the next cheapest twin room in Ryde. it was clean and I slept well. that was my only requirements for this stay to sleep and have a shower. it was perfectly located for Ryde.
A very clean and tidy room with a decked area which was very pleasant to sit in on a bright evening. A very quiet hotel with excellent breakfast. Jolie is an excellent host who is willing to undertake anything requested
The room was located near by to reach Ryde (5 mins walk). Space was clean, neat, spacious, comfy. Chris was kind enough to explain us about the island and it's specialities. Thanks Chris :)
An affordable hotel in a great location in Ryde with off street parking. Staff were great with a nice breakfast as well. Nothing fancy but did the job.
